This Christmas season Tasty Image is launching a Chocolate Community Campaign. Each month we will be selecting a worthy charitable or community project and donating 100 edible image products printed with an appropriate message, to help each cause with fundraising and spreading the word about their needs.
Our first recipient is little Enna Lohin in Edmonton, Canada. Enna has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type I, the number one genetic killer in infants. Enna needs special care and equipment in order to stay at home, surrounded by her loving parents, brothers and sisters. You can see the equipment needed for her care in the video below.
You can help Enna too by contributing to her care. Contact Lisa Lohin at llohin@live.ca to find out how you can help this holiday season.

The Boston Globe is one of the oldest and most venerated newspapers in America. It was founded in 1872 - each issue originally cost 4 cents. Today the Boston Globe is an innovative powerhouse with a global readership, and also one of the millenial-friendly corporations using Quick Response codes which can be scanned into a mobile device, providing instant access to websites and special offers.
Recently, the Boston Globe ordered custom chocolate business cards from Tasty Image, featuring a QR code that connects users to their new, updated website.
Boston Globe's marketing manager Erin Maghran said the chocolate business cards enjoyed "a great reception."
The Globe's chocolate QR cards were featured at all 200 place settings during the Ad Club of Boston dinner on Media Innovation Day, which was sponsored by the Boston Globe, Yahoo, and the Wall Street Journal, among others. The chocolate QR codes were also presented in baskets for people to help themselves; and included in gift baskets sent to national ad agencies.
For tips on how to use QR codes to boost small business sales, see this Boston Globe article.

One of my favorite things to do each holiday season is decorating the house. I love our box of familiar and festive treasures, and I'm sure you do too. But do you ever get the urge to add something new, maybe do something a little different?
And yet there's this little voice that protests (maybe your husband's) and it says, "No! Please no more Christmas doodahs!"
Well if you decorate with one of our molded chocolate treasures, you won't have to worry about storing it after Christmas - it will get eaten! Meanwhile, your rooms will be filled with the enticing odor of chocolate. And our chocolate masterpieces won't dry out and drop fir needles all over your table!
Try these ideas for fun and edible decorating displays:

“Everyone speaks chocolate.” Unlike other franchises, a Tasty Image franchisee can partner with other businesses like gift stores, bookstores, caterers, and photographers and create multiple streams of income!
Chocolate opens doors, and chocolate plus edible imaging creates a powerful message that people are eager to absorb. Here are ten reasons why Tasty Image is the best franchise choice on the market!
1. Look for stores geographically near you. With chocolate, you can offer attractive cross-promotional ideas to neighboring businesses. Offer to print chocolate business cards or customer gifts at a discount, and make sure the name of your store is stamped on every candy.
2. Expand your offerings. Our business models are completely flexible and they allow you to add any service or auxiliary products that you would like to offer.
3. Look for businesses that can use your services. Caterers, wedding planners, event planners and trade shows are just a few of the businesses you can approach.

Too early to think about Christmas? "It's still seven weeks away!" you protest. "I always wait until the week before to do my Christmas shopping."
Ah, that may work for your personal shopping, but if you want to let your clients and customers know that you appreciate their business with a Christmas gift, take a tip from other businesses. Many firms begin planning their gift campaign as early as August. "We always choose something that can be imprinted with our logo as a gift for our winemakers," says Ryan Render of Seguin Moreau, which produces French oak barrels for the wine industry. "We have to make sure our supplier can get enough items, have them all embroidered or printed with our logo, and get them back to our sales reps by Thanksgiving. Not much happens in December, and we like to deliver the gifts in person so it's important that our sales reps have them in their hands when they make their last calls of the year."
Would you like to hand deliver a fine gift with your business logo on it? Tasty Image can make your ordering easy. Everyone loves chocolate! And we have a wide selection of customizable chocolates in every price range - chocolates that can be edibly imaged with YOUR logo.
Order now and look forward to seeing your clients smile when you thank them in chocolate.
For orders over 200 units, call 877-742-2626 toll free and inquire about quantity discounts.
Visit our website for more photos and information on our Gift Towers!

As the holidays approach, you can lure more customers to your store by offering completely customized chocolate decorations, centerpieces, and party favors.
Chocolate molded turkeys can be stuffed with jelly beans, truffles, or any confection that a customer would like to order. Turkeys, which are always a popular item in early November, can also be drizzled and painted. Try painting tail feathers in alternating colors for an attractive centerpiece display. Custom filled and painted turkeys are a huge hit with children on this holiday, so whenever your displays attract a new order you are likely to have won a turkey customer for life.
The Christmas shopping season begins on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Customers blitz shopping malls and stores looking for Christmas novelties so plan your Christmas displays and specials now. When taking photos for your website, be sure to set up some elegant vignettes as well as photos of customized products. For instance, lay out a graceful table setting with customized party favors in the center of each plate. Take photos of hanging ornaments surrounded by tree branches. In other words, put your creative ideas in context so people will be inspired to use them at home.

During the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tasty Image will donate 10% of all proceeds from online orders to the Susan G. Komen Memorial Fund.
Tasty Image prints completely edible images on chocolate lollipops, bars, coins and cookies. "Our product is in demand by people organizing or promoting fundraising events and races," according to marketing manager Mary Baker. "Pink, women, and chocolate - the ideas just naturally go together."
Store manager Cindy Patterson adds, "We have a library of "Think Pink" slogans and logos, but we can also print anything a customer wants on the product of their choice."
"We want to give back to our community and to this cause," says Baker, "because many of us here at Tasty Image have either faced cancer or lost someone dear. We always rejoice when we get a Think Pink order because it makes us feel that we're contributing."

Our second place prize in the 2011 Tasty Image Video Competition goes to Tim Armstrong of Santa Barbara, California. We wanted to learn more about Tim and his aspirations. Here is a transcript of our interview with him:
Are you a student?
I am a recent graduate from Wakato University in New Zealand and The University of California in Santa Barbara, The United States.
Are you a professional in video production or any other field?
I am a freelance film maker. I have a degree in film and media and have been actively involved in the industry from the age of 16. Earlier this year my production company Grand Cheval Productions won a New Zealand film festival after competing against 800 other teams. The New Zealand film commission has provided funding for us to shoot a feature film. I will be flying to New Zealand in December through January to assist with production and edit.
What are your plans after this?
Where do you live?
I live in Isla Vista, Santa Barbara, California. This is close to UCSB where I went to college. I am still working on some projects with the school.
How did you get started doing this?
I went travelling in Asia with some friends when I was 16 and decided to make a video for everyone.
Has winning this award helped further your dreams, and how?
Winning this award inspires further confidence in what I do. I will use the prize money to invest in better lenses for my camera. This will increase the production values making my films look more professional.
Thanks again! I'm so stoked!!!

Nick, Zack and Drew are college students in Nashville, Tennessee who are also working at FedEx Ground to pay their way.

Drew created the original score and lyrics for this video; Nick and Zack are the actor-singers. We recently engaged them in an interview to find out more about them. Click below to read the full interview.

October is the right time to start pursuing corporate Christmas orders. A little early, you ask? Not at all!
Although the personal gift shopping frenzy traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving, smart assistants and business owners begin selecting their client gifts much earlier in the season. Imagine you are working for a stock brokerage firm with over 200 clients, and you’ve been given the task of finding a Christmas gift that will please everyone and can be imprinted with the company logo. If you wait until November, the personal shopping pressure will make it harder to get your order filled—that’s when things get put on back order. Plus, at many larger firms, an assistant may be asked to find several gift suggestions and run them by the director or a board for approval before ordering.

Unlike Forrest Gump, you know exactly what you'll get with premium boxes of chocolate this holiday season — increased sales. If you’re considering going into business for yourself, this the perfect time to launch! Get ready now to take advantage of holiday shopping and explosive demand for customized chocolates.
The National Confectioners Association in McLean, Va. expects a 4.4% increase in candy sales this season. "Confectionery is as much a part of the season as turkey and jingle bells. This season we anticipate more than $325 million worth of boxed chocolates alone will be sold.''

We’ve all heard the words and maybe we’ve even reiterated them, but what do they mean? Antioxidants? That sounds like something that we want the cleaning team to use in our showers to eliminate soap build up!
Our bodies allow a chemical reaction to take place within our cells and DNA. This chemical reaction occurs because we do not take the steps, through diet and exercise, to combat this process. Oxidation occurs in our bodies naturally, but is intensified by certain behaviors such as exposure to sun, smoking and poor diet. Think of oxidation as being similar to the fading of your car paint or house paint - now think about that process happening to your cells!
By introducing ‘antioxidants’ to our body, we typically reduce destruction of our cells and DNA by oxidation and subsequently reverse or combat the process.

Once graduation took place, I never thought I'd find myself concerned about grades again! Yet, here I am, years later, still trying to get straight A's. The best part is: we did it!
The average American consumes some 11 pounds of chocolate candy each year, and there are approximately 2,500 chocolate candy makers in the United States. Amazingly, with all this chocolate being prepared and consumed, there are only 14 companies that manufacture chocolate, starting with the raw cocoa beans and turning them into cocoa and solid chocolate. Which of those 14 make the best tasting chocolate?
Who were the judges and what did they say? The panel was comprised of seven judges, including both avowed chocoholics and those who merely like to indulge every now and then. In total, 47 dark, 28 milk and 15 white chocolates were tasted and rated. The tasting was held over several days and conducted "blind," that is, the judges didn't know the brand name they were tasting. The taste testers were checking for overall taste, followed by consistency or smoothness. A rating process, resulting in grades from A to F were the results.

Want to see your picture on a chocolate bar? That’s the concept behind the launch of Chocolography’s new website this month. Chocolography - our sister company - designs, manufacturers and sells the printing technology that we use to make custom Tasty Image chocolates for you. Their new website lets you upload your own photos, view the printing process, and experiment with food imaging in a virtual world.
The printing process uses edible food coloring in print cartridges that look very similar to an ordinary office printer. “The image resolution is great,” says public relations manager Mary Baker. “People send us all kinds of images—their pets, their kids, their friends, their business logos—we do it all.”
Chocolography sells and licenses the Food Imaging System, which can be used as a stand-alone business or incorporated into an existing business. “It’s a good match for caterers and party planners,” says Baker, “as it gives them plenty of creative options and another source of revenue.”
Tasty Image hosts the retail website and offers franchise packages that combine the Food Imaging System with the powerful brand and marketing muscle of Tasty Image. Tasty Image founder Derri Cerbone hopes to see Tasty Image kiosks appearing in malls across the U.S. “It’s such a fun idea and it has so many applications. For instance, at malls teens love to shop together; so they can get new clothes, new haircuts, then stop by a Tasty Image store and have a glamour shot done and we’ll put it on a chocolate lollipop for them.”
Cerbone also points out that Tasty Image franchise stores offer more than just chocolate—store owners are encouraged to become an event hub for chocolate lovers, and the franchise has experience in hosting chocolate tastings, candy making classes, field trips and summer chocolatier camps.
Orders for custom printed chocolates can be placed online at www.tastyimage.com. Information about technology licenses and franchise opportunities is available online at www.chocolography.com.
The Chocolate Printing Company, Inc. (CPC) of Inwood, New York was founded in 1998 by the current CEO and President, Mr. Lenny Kofman. Since then, CPC has created, patented and developed the revolutionary Chocolography™ Food Imaging System, which is represented by over 200 licensees in 53 countries.

Looking forward to fall? Crisp air, crunchy leaves and football games. If you are a Tasty Image owner or enthusiast, here are some creative ideas for chocolate incentives, fundraising, and prom activities. Visit decision makers at your local school now, while energy is high and everyone is planning events. Call ahead and make an appointment with a school official, and then visit with some colorful school-themed chocolates to leave as samples.
Suggest a "back to school" kick off.
Before meeting with a school official, print an image of the school mascot on chocolate lollipops and decorate your pops with ribbons in the school colors. Suggest selling the lollipops for a profit to raise money for team uniforms, field trips, and other school activities. Come prepared with quantity pricing and suggestions for selling the items at bake sales, in the school commissary, and as student neighborhood projects. Also bring high-quality digital photos of your product so teachers and students have photos to use in student newspapers, sport schedules and posters. Think your fundraising project through, and make it as easy to implement as possible. Provide a written, step-by-step guide and include the profit that the school can make.
Incentives and rewards
Many schools offer rewards to encourage good behavior and/or honor roll recognition. Allow the school to purchase printed chocolate items at 25% off to give out to their star students. Remember, every student and family that receives an edible image reward will remember your store when they have private celebrations!
Prom night
Meet with the prom committee. Prom is usually funded by the junior class, who raise money all year long. You can offer edible image items with a ‘heart’ theme. It’s also an amazing opportunity to bring your edible imaging equipment to the dance! “Take a picture with your prom date and get it on chocolate while you wait!” (Tip: Bring your own white backdrop. A white backdrop is clean and uses less ink than a dark backdrop - it will dry faster and stay neat while handling.)

Diana Chávez Reza, left, and Nora Chávez Reza visited New York for chocolate production training, and later, once they received the system, began remote training over the internet which included maintenance, printing and Photoshop.
Diana and Nora are opening their shop in the historic and architecturally famous Fuentes del Pedregal in México, where architect Luis Barragan built some of the first modernist homes fusing architecture and landscape in the 1940s. Diana and Nora are talented art and portrait photographers and will be applying their skills to creating hip urban portraits on chocolate.
