Chocolate fountain catering is becoming hugely popular at parties and events—and it’s a great way to expand your chocolate offerings. Chocolate is enjoying media attention for its heart-healthy benefits, chefs are moving chocolate into everyday cuisine, and everyone loves chocolate! Chocolate fountains can be set up to run dark, milk or white chocolate; and white chocolate can be colored to match any decorating theme. Add a liqueur to warm, flowing chocolate and you have a very sexy, adult indulgence. Fountains can even be set up to run cheese or barbecue sauce for outdoor culinary grilling challenges. Topping items can range from savory, like pastries and nuts; to sweets like marshmallows and mini-eclairs; or healthy bite-size chunks of fruit.
Interested in launching your own chocolate fountain catering? Here are four ways to get started!

Congratulations to Lizeth and Cinthy Chica who have recently opened a chocolate printing shop in Hallandale, Florida.
Lizeth has a degree in Television Production & Photography, and her sister Cinthy graduated in Culinary Arts. “The idea of personalized chocolate is melding both of our abilities together and with our strengths combined, we know we are going to be successful.”
“To begin with,” says Lizeth, “We are going to run the business from home and after a year or so we want to open a full Tasty Image chocolate store.”
Lizeth and Cinthy discovered Tasty Image at the Miami Convention Center during a trade show. “We are originally from Ecuador,” Lizeth continues. “We have been working very hard to be able to fulfil our ‘American Dream’ of being our own boss, and now Tasty Image is helping us fulfill that dream!”

Tasty Image edible image lollipops were in demand at the New Jersey Wine and Food Festival held at the glamourous Crystal Springs Resort, honoring Chef Thomas Keller of French Laundry fame, and benefiting the James Beard Foundation and the Bocuse d'Or USA Foundation.
We were amazed and excited to be at this star-studded culinary event. If you have ever watched FoodTV you have probably heard of Thomas Keller, owner of Per Se and The French Laundry - whose kitchen was used as the inspiration in the Pixar film "Ratatouille". The animators were even invited to work in the kitchen in order to learn the details and dynamics of a 3-star kitchen up close. Keller created the signature dish (ratatouille) for the movie and had a cameo appearance as a diner in the movie's restaurant!
If you have never heard of the James Beard Foundation, it was founded by friends of America's first and best loved TV chef, Julia Child to inspire and support struggling chefs. You may have watched the movie Julie and Julia starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. James Beard honorees include beloved culinary icons like Alton Brown and Emeril Lagasse ("BAM!").
Guests asked if our edible images could be personalized for weddings and were excited to hear a positive response. Weddings probably came to mind because Crystal Springs hosts an average of 100 weddings each year!
People were amazed that the photos were actually edible, and some people commented that it was also a great idea for Sweet 16 parties and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs!
The staff stayed for a while after the event to engage with a big crowd of people around our table asking for their pictures on chocolate to take away as a reminder of the event.
The Wine and Food event organizer said, "This was an amazing idea, I loved it!"

Bellafonte Elementary first graders pose with their edible image chocolates and Flat Stanley map.
Flat Stanley recently visited Tasty Image in our Jupiter, Florida store in Chasewood Plaza. Flat Stanley is a successful children's story series featuring a flat (and oddly mailable) little boy. This one comes to us from Bellafonte Elementary School in Bellafonte, PA!
Stanley Lambchop and his younger brother Arthur are given a big bulletin board by their Dad for displaying pictures and posters. He hangs it on the wall over Stanley's bed. During the night the board falls from the wall, flattening Stanley in his sleep. He survives and makes the best of his altered state, and soon he is entering locked rooms by sliding under the door, and playing with his younger brother by being used as a kite. One special advantage is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope. Stanley even helps catch some art museum thieves by posing as a painting on the wall. Eventually Arthur changes Stanley back to his proper shape with a bicycle pump.
Miss Kristen Giovinco writes:
My first grade class read the Flat Stanley books, and then each student created their own Flat Traveler. One of their homework assignments was to go home and talk with their family and get the address of one person they wanted to send their Flat Travelers to. This project has been wonderful! Some of our Flat Stanley's traveled to the beaches of Florida, South Carolina, and Mexico! Others traveled to the Pocono Mountains in PA, Cement City, Michigan, and New York City. Some of our adventurous Flat Travelers traveled west to Las Vegas, Nevada and Bellingham, Washington. One lucky Flat Traveler went overseas to visit China! This project really enhanced my students geography skills and taught them a lot of interesting information about places all over the world.
This is a picture of our class holding up our Flat Stanley chocolates from Tasty Image! We are sitting in front of our Flat Stanley bulletin board where we display all of the Flat Travelers as they return home.

March started off with a bang! We attended the debut of the Chocolate World Expo in Garden City, NY on March 4th. Kids and adults alike were fascinated by the technology, as you can see in this photo. The lucite barrier is in barrier for food sanitation ... and also to keep curious little fingers from poking the printer! These kids are watching the blank lollipops roll under the printer and come out the other side printed with edible images of their own faces!
We also took our mobile chocolate printing technology to a rocking Purim party at Club Amnesia NYC on March 1.

Congratulations to Stephanie Kassab, who has opened the first Tasty Image franchise store in Dubai! The store opened on February 16th, and our corporate training team was recently in Dubai assisting with the preparation and the opening.
Tasty Image is located in the Dubai Mall, one of the largest and most opulent retail centers in the world. Out of hundreds of retail franchisees, Tasty Image was selected as the ideal choice by the Kassab family. Dubai Mall found the concept so exciting they granted Tasty Image permission to open right away, without being subjected to the usual waiting list!
Interview with Store Manager Stephanie Kassab
What design aspects are you most proud of?
The design in all is very beautiful, but I am proud of the signboard of our store. It looks like a chocolate bar!

Tasty Image LIVE events are a great way to entertain clients. And on February 14th, Microsoft thought so too!
Microsoft's More Than Likes Can Say event attracted over 100 people from social media networks and internet technology to discuss a pending partnership between Bing and Facebook. A technology partnership between the two will allow Bing to create website rankings from Facebook 'Like' activity, similar to Google's Pagerank.
The event was part of Social Media Week in New York, and the speakers included well-known tech gurus like Brett Martin (founder and CEO of Sonar), Gilad Lotan of SocialFlow, Stefan Weitz of Microsoft and writer Jason Kinkaid from TechCrunch.
Microsoft asked Tasty Image to create edible image chocolate heart pops for guests. Our combination of traditional chocolate and fun technology was a perfect way to say "Happy Valentine's Day, from Microsoft!"

Felix, Simon (age 9), and Ada Swerdlow at their home in Mozyr, Belarus in February 1986, just two months before the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
Simon Swerdlow, 13, was about to board a plane for the first time in his life. He thought that this trip, like the summer vacations he had taken with his parents and his brother Igor, would be an adventure. “I was excited,” he said, “but also nervous because this would be my first time traveling alone. And I had no return ticket. That was scary.”
The year was 1990, and 250 children were boarding the first international evacuation flight taking children out of the radioactive zones around Chernobyl, four years after the nuclear disaster occurred.
When the children and their parents arrived at Minsk Airport, they found an airstrip and an unfinished construction site. “We were stranded there for three days,” said Simon. “My parents had no luggage, we had no blankets. People were sleeping on concrete. The bathrooms were unfinished. The organizers brought us food from the city and they did their best, but it was random stuff. A banana, an egg, some juice.”
As Simon was about to board an old Romanian airliner, he turned and looked back at the airport. His parents had climbed the bulwarks of the unfinished airport building to reach the top deck and were gazing down at him from behind glass panes. They lifted their hands in farewell.

International development manager Alla Chernova checks the displays at the Tasty Image booth before the doors open to crowds at the Miami Trade Expo.
The Miami Trade Expo January 20-22 was a huge success, and Tasty Image was the “buzz”.
We were the busiest booth on the floor,” reports founder Derri Cerbone. “We had people standing five and six deep.” The Tasty Image staff demonstrated edible imaging live by taking photos of the trade show attendees and printing them on lollipops. “I walked down the hall to visit other booths,” said Derri, “and when they saw the Tasty Image logo on my shirt, they said ‘Hey, you’re that shop that prints on chocolate!’”
Over 150 franchises participated in the show, and 30% were new franchises. “People are looking for franchises now,” said Derri. “Franchises are popular as a business investment. Another common theme we heard was that people want to diversify, and are looking at a unique franchise as a second business or a way to expand their current business.”
“People are looking for a business that will stand out and be easy to market. The compliments we heard all weekend are that we are unique, fun, and different. People kept coming back to our booth.”

Tasty Image chocolates make great party favors and gifts. But did you know that chocolate – especially Tasty Image chocolates – can solve problems?
To expand your marketing in 2012, look for ways that your Tasty Image products can help others solve their problems. Whenever someone says, “gee I wish I could …” ask yourself, can Tasty Image help? Send a few samples, get a test order, and enjoy residual sales and repeat traffic from happy customers.
Here are two real life ways we helped clients solve a problem.
Weyerhaeuser is the largest exporter of timber and wood products in the United States. They operate an entire seaport in Longview, Washington and export wood to South America, Europe and China. Gary Cooke, the safety class instructor for Weyerhaeuser, was conducting live re-enactments in his safety classes and handing out chocolate as a fun way to reward employees for accurate responses. “I was basically ‘borrowing’ handfuls of chocolate from the company dispatcher each week,” he said. Tasty Image provided Weyerhaeuser with logo-printed chocolates. “They’re a huge hit,” said Gary. “Now we’re thinking about ordering logo-printed bars as Christmas gifts for our clients and loggers.”
The Boston Globe is the largest and most venerated newspaper in the United States. The Globe has been active in reinvigorating downtown Boston by sponsoring a QR code treasure hunt through downtown stores and restaurants. We helped the Globe promote their new website and online presence by printing thousands of QR code chocolates as giveaways.

Tasty Image is launching a 2012 Tasty Image Community Campaign. Each month we will be selecting a worthy charitable or community project and donating 100 edible image products printed with an appropriate message, to help each cause with fundraising and spreading the word about their needs.
We will consider charities, service organizations, community outreach, awareness programs and individual needs. One thing we do look for are groups who are planning fundraising events, so that we can help and participate in a meaningful way.
Our first recipient, in December 2011, was little Enna Lohin of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Some of the efforts that have been nominated so far include:
If you know of a charitable organization that is planning a fundraiser and could use a little boost, please comment here or on our Facebook page!

1. Distribute chocolate business cards
The reaction to chocolate business cards is priceless! Each business card comes in its own plastic case so you can easily insert a paper card in the case as well. You can also use the cards to print a QR code that will take people directly to your website or online specials. But the main reason to hand out chocolate business cards is so that people can actually see, feel and taste your product. Once they do, they won’t forget you and they’ll soon be wanting to please and impress their own customers with your edible image chocolate cards and products.
2. Start a blog
Blogs are more interactive and personal than an ecommerce website—you can explain a little bit more about what you do, feature clients, and promote your business. The big upside is that every blog post you write is chronicled as a separate article by search engines, exponentially increasing your exposure on the internet!

Mr. Ayman Abdul Jawad and family purchased their first imaging system in 2009 and opened their first store in Jeddah. One year later they purchased two more systems, opened a bigger store in Medina and are planning an aggressive growth campaign with an expanded product line and more cool ideas!
A number of Jeddah’s prominent and elite businessmen attended the inaugural opening of the first store, one of the “Young Businessmen Projects” in Jeddah. The concept of edible imagery was highly admired by the attendees, particularly when Mr. Ayman Abdul Jawad surprised the audience by putting a memorial picture of H.E. Sheikh Saleh Al-Turkey, former chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, on a chocolate along with a picture of the inauguration showing the owner of the Young Businessmen Project, and Sheikh Saleh Al-Turkey.
Our warmest wishes and congratulations to Mr. Jawad and his family on their successful and creative ventures!
Check out these photos for more creative ideas from the Jawad family!

by Derri Cerbone, founder of Tasty Image
Traditions – where do they come from?
The tradition of the New Year’s Resolution goes all the way back to 153 B.C. when Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar.
With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became an ancient symbol for resolutions, and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.
The New Year has not always begun on January 1, and it doesn't begin on that date everywhere today. It begins on that date only for cultures that use a 365-day solar calendar. January 1 became the beginning of the New Year in 46 B.C., when Julius Caesar developed a calendar that would more accurately reflect the seasons than previous calendars had.
The Romans named the first month of the year after Janus, the god of beginnings and the guardian of doors and entrances. He was always depicted with two faces, one on the front of his head and one on the back. Thus he could look backward and forward at the same time. At midnight on December 31, the Romans imagined Janus looking back at the old year and forward to the new.
In order to set the calendar right, the Roman senate, in 153 BC, declared January 1 to be the beginning of the New Year. But tampering continued until Julius Caesar, in 46 BC, established what has come to be known as the Julian Calendar. It again established January 1 as the New Year. But in order to synchronize the calendar with the sun, Caesar had to let the previous year drag on for 445 days.
Traditions, around the world, today are observed in a variety of rituals. How did you bring in 2012?
I have always celebrated the New Year with loved ones with whom we exchange a kiss at the stroke of midnight and make a silent wish for the coming year. Others, I’m told eat a sliver of herring at midnight to symbolize food being plentiful, a sip of champagne to represent happiness and silver in the hand to indicate wealth.
Let’s take a look at customs from other countries:
